The name of the flower -- "Christmas
star" is connected with the time of the year when it blossoms
-- Christmas.
According to a legend on Christmas
Eve a little girl was walking to the church very sad, because she
had nothing to present as a gift to the youg Jesus. She stopped near
the bushes around the church and started crying. Her tears dropped
on the leaves of the bush, and where they dropped the leaves turned
red.Amazed and happy the girl picked a few branches and brought
them as a present. The little. The little girl's present was the
most beautifl it contained the sincerity of the child's heart.
The Christmas star is a tropical
plant and is easy to grow it at home. After the period of blossom
it needs to rest for about 6 weeks. It has to be put in a dark place
and watered very seldom . At mid March it should be put back to
normal conditions. It should be cut at about 10-15cm above the soil.
The plant can stand temperatures up to 25 C and has to be fertilized
every 2-3 and watered often.
The temperature has to be 20 - 22 C
If the temperature is highr the flower will blossom earlier and
if it is lower -- later. If we take a good care of the plant it
will blossom at Christmas.
